ESTUARY - Kings Manor Farm through the seasonsThis exciting project developed the professional practice of a writer, Lydia Fulleylove and a visual artist, Colin Riches, at the same time as involving young people and adults in creative activities inspired by a unique natural setting. The Kings Manor estate completely surrounds the tidal River Yar estuary in the west of the Isle of Wight. It provides one of the most exciting environmental habitats in southern England with an extraordinary range of bio-diversity. The owners have preserved the estuary in its natural state for 40 years, treating the tidal area as a wild life sanctuary and running the organic farm as a sustainable operation. The creative activities follow the passage of a year, responding to the changing activities on the farm and the transformation of the landscape through the seasons. We draw on our wide experience of combined arts work to show how practice in one art form illuminates and extends practice in another. This website gives examples of the combined arts activities we developed. It aims to give you, the group leader, teacher or individual artist or writer, a set of new approaches to working creatively across the arts out of doors. You will find these activities in Learning Resources |
